IV Ozone Therapy

How It Works

O3 enters the cell and inhibits NF-kB and augments Nrf2. This in turn stimulates pathways which inhibit inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha, IL-12, IL-6, and IL-1b while at the same time inducing production of anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors such as IL-10, IFG-1, VEGF, TGF-beta, and various endorphins. The end result is dramatic reduction in systemic inflammation which rivals that of steroid therapy but without the side effects. This has profound implications for arthritis and various other inflammatory musculoskeletal disorders. Other benefits include increased HDL ("good cholesterol") and reduced LDL ("bad cholesterol") and homocysteine. Some studies have begun to show benefit as well in augmenting traditional medical therapies for various bacterial and viral infections as well as some cancers.

Specifically via the Nrf2 pathway O3  activates synthesis of antioxidant enzymes, such as Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT), and Heme Oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and glutathione peroxidase. This in turn acts to stabilize telomere length, thereby acting as a potent anti-aging therapy. Ozone may also slow the ageing process by a unique additional mechanism of activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway. Rapamycin and its derivatives (rapalogs) are inhibitors of mTOR, a major regulator of the aging process.
